There are two ways to create Facebook video remarketing campaigns:
- Show Video Ads to Remarketing List: You have a remarketing list and want to show a video ad to people on this remarketing list
- Remarket To People Who Viewed Your Video Ad: You have a Facebook campaign with a video ad. Based on how much of the video ad people watched and whether they converted or not, you decide who you want to show remarketing ads to. The remarketing ads do not necessarily have to be video ads.
Depending on what you are starting out with and what your goals are, one or both of these tutorials might be helpful.
Facebook Video Remarketing Method #1: Show Video Ads To Remarketing Lists
Facebook video remarketing ads are video ads that are shown to people from one or more remarketing list. Remarketing lists could for instance consist of email addresses.
In order to create video remarketing ads, you must first create a video campaign.
Once the campaign has been created, create your first ad set by clicking on Ad Sets and on the green plus. Your ad set should look similar to the screenshot above.
Scroll down until you see “Audience” and click edit.
You will then be able to select the remarketing list you would like to target in the Custom Audience field.
How To Create Facebook Video Remarketing Ads
Click on Ads and it will show that there are no ads available (see screenshot below), so click on the green plus to create your first ad.
After clicking on the green plus, you will be asked to insert the following fields:
Make sure to choose the campaign and ad set you just created and name the ad accordingly. You will see that the new ad shows up automatically in the video format.
Insert the information and your Facebook video remarketing campaign is ready to go!
Facebook Video Remarketing Method #2: Remarket To People Who Viewed Your Video Ad
In order to show ads to people who viewed your Facebook video ad in the past, go to each video ad you want to include in the “must have watched” list so to say. Click on the respective video ads one after the other, scroll down, and select “Create audiences from people who viewed this ad” (see screenshot below).
Checking the box will result in two automatically generated audiences: one list with people who watched at least 3 seconds and one list with people who watched 95% of the video length.
In order for these audiences to be generated (or updated), the video must be viewed at least 1,000 times within 24 hours.
Once the audiences have been generated, you can create a Facebook video campaign and choose your custom audiences as described in part one of this article.
