Google Hangouts are great when Skype is down or maybe you simply want to give hangouts a shot for webinars and free video calls. Google Hangouts, often referred to as Google Plus Hangouts, can be set up in a number of different ways. The fastest way to start a Google Hangout is with Google Calendar.
How to Start a Google Hangout
Go to your Google Calendar and schedule an appointment.
As seen in the screenshot above, there is an automatic Google Hangout link already set up where it says “Video call”. Unless you click “Remove”, this link is automatically generated for every Google Calendar appointment. The link changes when participants are added, so make sure to add hangout participants in the “Add guests” section to the right first.
All invited Google Hangout participants will get an email with a link in the meeting details:
When they RSVP, you get the same email and therefore have the link also.
If you don’t get the email or it’s lost in the chaos of your inbox, simply go to your Google calendar and click on the scheduled appointment. You will then see the updated video call link and can start a google hangout.
