LinkedIn’s New Conversion Tracking
LinkedIn has finally done something that most advertisers have been waiting for! Conversion tracking has come to LinkedIn. LinkedIn’s Campaign Manager help you optimize your campaigns and see which campaigns are driving leads for your business. The use of analytics help you better understand the value of your ads and how much the audience is interacting with them.
Step One: Access Your Campaign Manager
In order to start tracking your conversions, you must log into your Campaign Manager. Here you will see the pages that you are running ads on now. Choose which page you want to start tracking conversions on. Once you’re in the account level view on the Campaign Manager you will see on the top right hand corner the “Conversion Tracking” button.
Step Two: Set Up Your Conversion
The next screen will provide you with an Insight Tag for your website, you must install it on every page of your domain you want to track conversions on.
Once you’ve added the Insight Tags on your pages, you will create your first conversion. On this page you will enter a conversion name of your choosing, select the conversion type, the value, and the URLs that you want to track conversions on. For choosing which URL you want to track conversions on, you can choose exact or starts with. The difference between the two is that if you choose exact, LinkedIn will only register conversions on that specific page. If you select starts with, LinkedIn will register a conversion if a member visits any site starting with the URL you entered track.
After entering the information, click finish and you will be on the road to tracking conversions on your website.
What LinkedIn has done here is a great step into incorporating the platform into a more user friendly interface. Adding features such as bulk editing to the platform will enhance the way marketers interact with LinkedIn in the future.
